How to benefit from war-like competition: LucidLogix Technologies and the Hydra Engine

http://venturebeat.com/2008/08/20/from-the-ashes-of-the-graphics-wars-another-start-up/

LucidLogix Technologies is an Israeli company makes chips designed to augment (i.e., "traffic cop") the usage of multiple video cards - even from different vendors. The folks running this company were on the verge of landing a video card supplier deal with Microsoft's X-Box until it got killed by nVidia.

Perhaps the key lesson from this posting is that sometimes it's worth thinking about how to profit from major companies competiting against each other. One does have to wonder why no one developed this kind of technology before...after all, the likes of ATI (eaten up by AMD), nVidia, and Intel have been going after each other for basically a decade already.

FYI, the last video card I purchased was nVidia (back in high school).
